The answer

The privy (al-khala') is the place designated for answering the call of nature. Performing ablution (wudu') in the privy is considered contrary to what is preferable (khilaf al-awla). Remembering Allah (dhikr Allah) and uttering the Basmala (tasmiya) within it are disliked (makruh) as long as it is prepared for answering the call of nature, due to its status and sanctity. However, if it is in an open desert, it is permissible.
