Is it permissible for a Muslim woman to wrap her head covering (tarhah) twice or more around her head and under her chin, or is this considered imitating men’s turbans and thus forbidden, based on Umm Salamah’s narration reported by Abu Dawud, which states: "one wrapping, not two"?

The aforementioned hadith is disputed in its authenticity. Even if it were authentic, scholars have explained its ruling as being due to women imitating men. Its meaning is that a woman should not wrap her headscarf (khimar) on her head more than once, so as not to imitate men who wrap their turbans (imamah) more than once. The ruling revolves around its underlying reason (illah), existing or not existing, and the standard for imitation in dress may vary with time and place. Therefore, the prohibition depends on the extent to which the way women wrap their headscarves resembles the way men wrap their turbans. If wrapping turbans two or more times is not exclusive to men, then there is no harm for women to wrap their headscarves more than once, and vice versa.
