Is it permissible to communicate with others while reciting the Qur'an?
There is no harm in a Muslim speaking while reciting the Qur’an, but it is better to continue reciting and not to engage in conversation unless there is a need for it, such as returning a greeting, answering the call to prayer (adhan), saying “Yarhamukallah” to someone who sneezes, or answering a questioner; for these are from the Sunnah. However, if the conversation is for no need, it is better to avoid it to achieve contemplation and understanding in the recitation, in compliance with the words of Allah Almighty: “This is a Book which We have sent down to you, full of blessings, that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may take admonition.” (Surat Sad/29).
