What is the ruling on the sacrificial bond (ṣakk al-uḍḥiya) that some charitable organizations carry out, whereby the value of the sacrifice is paid to the organization for it to provide it to the needy in Syria, and thus one does not witness the slaughter or the time of its slaughter?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible to appoint an agent for the slaughter of the sacrificial animal (udhiyah), even if the slaughter takes place in a country different from that of the appointer. However, it is more meritorious for the sacrificer to slaughter their animal themselves or to witness its slaughter, as a glorification of the rituals of Allah and a demonstration of the act of worship.
