What are the authentic hadiths describing the dowry (or trousseau) of the Prophet's daughter or daughters, given the weakening of the hadith narrated by Aisha and Umm Salamah: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to prepare Fatimah so that we could bring her to Ali, so we went to the house and spread dust on its floor"?

No authentic hadith has been reported describing the dowries of the Prophet's daughters, peace be upon him, with the exception of what was reported regarding the dowry of Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her. Of the narrations concerning this, only the hadith of Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, is authentic, stating: "The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, equipped Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, with a velvet cloth (khamīl), a water skin (qirbah), and a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibers (līf)." This means her dowry consisted of a velvet cloth, a water skin, and a leather pillow filled with palm fibers, which indicates the asceticism of the Companions.
