Is it permissible to give water recited upon to someone without embarrassing them, such as by washing one's hand with it and shaking their hand, or touching something they use?
It is legislated to recite Ruqyah over water for the patient to drink and wash with. As for the treatment of the evil eye, merely shaking hands with the afflicted person with a hand moistened with Ruqyah water is not sufficient; rather, the person who cast the evil eye must perform ghusl (ritual bath). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded the person who cast the evil eye to perform ghusl. It is authentically narrated concerning Sahl ibn Hunaif's affliction with the evil eye and the Prophet's, peace and blessings be upon him, treatment of him by 'Amir ibn Rabi'ah washing his limbs in a vessel, then pouring the water over Sahl, whereupon he was cured.
