The answer

The expiation (Fidya) for fasting is obligatory for those who are unable to fast due to old age or an incurable illness. Such a person must break their fast and feed one poor person for each day, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿And upon those who are able to fast, but with difficulty, is a ransom: the feeding of a poor person.﴾ The estimated amount for feeding is half a Sa' of food (approximately 1.5 kilograms) for each day. This can be given to one poor person or more, at the beginning, middle, or end of the month.
