The zakat threshold for date palms and crops is five wasq (300 sa'a). One sa'a is equivalent to 2 kilograms and 40 grams of good quality wheat. The amount due is half of one-tenth (5%) if irrigation involves cost, and one-tenth (10%) if irrigation does not involve cost (such as rainwater). Zakat is obligatory on olives if they reach the threshold (five wasq) and is to be paid from their oil after pressing. Half of one-tenth (5%) is due if irrigated with cost, and one-tenth (10%) if irrigated without cost. According to the majority of jurists, there is no zakat on fruits and vegetables.
