The noble verse: "Indeed, those who abuse Allah and His Messenger—Allah has cursed them in this world and the Hereafter and prepared for them a humiliating punishment" is interpreted to mean that abusing Allah occurs by reviling Him, or reviling what He decrees, or showing enmity towards His allies, or atheism in His names and attributes, or by disobeying Him. It has been reported in the Hadith Qudsi: "The son of Adam harms Me; he reviles time, and I am time." This includes Jews, Christians, and polytheists due to their false statements about Allah Almighty. It was also said that the meaning of "abuse Allah" is atheism in His names and attributes, or those who make images, or harming the allies of Allah. The meaning of harm (أذى) is disobeying Allah's command and committing sins, and Allah Almighty is exalted above being truly harmed.
