What is the ruling on a husband traveling with one of his wives? Is justice required in this, and is there sin in the husband's delay in returning to his wife? Is it obligatory to inform one of the wives about the husband's travel or outing with the other?
A husband who has more than one wife must deal justly between them. He should not travel with one of them unless the others agree, or by drawing lots. This is what the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to do. If one violates this, he must compensate the other wife.
If you travel to visit your wife's family for a distance that allows for shortening prayers (approximately 80 kilometers), then both you and your wife are permitted to shorten your prayers, unless you intend to stay for more than four days.
If you have allocated time for a wife starting from 10 PM, you must not host anyone who would delay you from her allocated time. If this occurs and the delay is prolonged, you must compensate the wife whose turn it was for that time.
It is not necessary to inform a wife if you go out with another wife for an occasion or an outing within the same city. However, traveling requires consent or drawing lots.
