The answer

The innate inclination is for a man towards a woman and vice-versa. As for a person's inclination towards someone of the same sex with lust, it is contrary to this innate nature. What is called "admiration" between females may develop into "infatuation" and could end in forbidden lesbianism, which is considered one of the major sins. To address this admiration, one must strengthen faith, instill the love of Allah and His Messenger, teach the meaning of love for the sake of Allah, limit frequent communication, and assign the person academic and Dawah (Islamic propagation) tasks. As for one who finds themselves experiencing such admiration, they should attach their heart to Allah, sever their connection with the person they are attached to, reflect on the lives of the righteous, and ponder the serious harms of admiration and infatuation, which include turning away from Allah, bringing worries, imagining forbidden images, and corrupting the sound innate nature. Relationships between Muslims should be built upon Islamic law and piety, because every friendship not for the sake of Allah will turn into enmity on the Day of Resurrection, except for what was for Allah's sake. The door of repentance is open for whoever wishes to return to Allah, for He accepts repentance and transforms evil deeds into good ones.
