Is it permissible to place the Mushaf under the pillow to protect the sleeper from Satan or nightmares?

It is not permissible to place the Mushaf (Qur'an) under a pillow unless it is to protect it from a thief or similar danger. Protecting a sleeping person from Satan or nightmares is achieved by observing the remembrance of sleep, such as Ayat al-Kursi.
