Is it permissible to pray in clothes that have touched a pet, on which there is a possibility of urine?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Domestic animals are divided into two types: The first, those whose meat is eaten, such as sheep, and their urine and droppings are pure, by agreement of most of the Salaf and scholars like Malik and Ahmad. The second, those whose meat is not eaten, such as cats, and their urine and droppings are impure according to the majority of scholars like Malik, Abu Hanifa, and Ahmad. It is permissible to pray with clothes if they have touched an animal whose meat is not eaten, as long as one is not certain of its impurity, for the default state is purity, and doubt is not taken into consideration. It is forbidden to keep a dog except for the purpose of hunting or guarding.
