Does the Prophetic Hadith, "If I afflict My servant with his two beloved ones and he perseveres, I will compensate him for them with Paradise," include one who patiently endures a chronic illness and a gradual weakening of eyesight that may lead to total loss?

The aforementioned hadith has been narrated through multiple narrations, including: "If I test My servant with his two beloved ones [his eyes] and he perseveres, I will compensate him with Paradise for them," and "Whoever loses his two precious ones [his eyes] and then perseveres and seeks recompense [from Allah], his reward will be Paradise." It is understood from these narrations that the intended affliction is the loss of sight. And whoever is afflicted with an eye disease and perseveres, falls under the general scope of the hadiths about afflictions, such as: "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were a prick of a thorn, but Allah expiates some of his sins thereby."
