Does the unmarried fornicator remain alive after receiving 100 lashes, and what is the force of these lashes?

Lashing for hudud (prescribed punishments) aims to discipline, deter, and purify the transgressor, not to kill. The person being lashed is struck with a moderate blow, such that the striker does not raise his hand excessively, a new whip is not used, and the person being lashed is not stripped of his clothes except for what is like fur. The lashing is administered while the person is standing, without being tied or stretched out, and striking his face, head, and private parts is avoided. Ibn Qudamah said: "The blows are distributed over his entire body, and many are inflicted on fleshy areas, while avoiding vital organs." The whip must be moderate, neither causing injury nor being devoid of pain, and the striking must be between severity and weakness, without exaggeration in raising the hand. The purpose of this is to discipline and deter the person being lashed, and for believers to witness the punishment.
