Is it permissible to feed rabbits leftover meat and chicken, and is it then lawful to eat them?

There is no religious impediment to feeding rabbits clean meat and chicken scraps, provided that no harm befalls humans as a result.

Eating rabbits that have fed on clean meat and chicken scraps is permissible, because the fact that an animal eats meat does not prevent its consumption. There is a difference between an animal that hunts, like predators, and one that eats slaughtered meat.

However, if the meat scraps are impure, then the rabbit falls under the ruling of "Jallalah" (an animal that feeds on impurities). If the impurity affects the taste or smell of the rabbit, or if it is harmful to humans, then it is not permissible to eat it; otherwise, it is permissible. Scholars have unanimously agreed that the fruits of trees fertilized with impure substances are permissible, as long as the smell or taste of the fruit has not changed.
