What is the ruling concerning someone who performed Hajj on behalf of his grandmother after he had already performed his own obligatory Hajj, but was unable to perform the Farewell Tawaf due to unforeseen circumstances?

Scholars differ regarding the Farewell Tawaf. The majority view it as obligatory and that it is not waived except for a menstruating woman, citing the statement of Ibn Abbas: "The people were commanded that their last ritual should be with the House (Kaaba), except that it was lightened for the menstruating woman." Whoever omits it must offer a dam (sacrificial animal).

Whereas the Malikis view it as a Sunnah (recommended act) and that nothing is required for its omission, citing the Prophet's (peace be upon him) permission for a menstruating woman to forgo it, arguing that if it were obligatory, he would not have granted her such a concession.

The preponderant opinion is that of the majority. Therefore, you must slaughter a sheep in the Haram and distribute it among its poor. If you are unable to do so, then nothing is incumbent upon you, as Allah Almighty says: "Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity."
