The mere belief in the spread of devils at sunset is not considered polytheism (shirk). The prophetic hadiths have clarified the reason for commanding the confinement of children at this time, which is the fear that devils may harm them and cause them to be afflicted. Devils spread at the beginning of the night, as darkness provides a suitable environment for their movement. They attach themselves to whatever they can harm. Children, in particular, are vulnerable at this time, often due to the presence of impurities on them and their lack of remembrance of Allah, in addition to the fact that darkness increases their demonic cruelty.
