Is what the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, did in terms of customs or natural acts absolutely better than others?

Some scholars hold the view that it is commendable to emulate the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, in all his actions, even his customs. This is the opinion adopted by Al-Ghazali. The majority of scholars, however, believe that these customs are permissible for us. As for Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, he holds that emulating the Prophet, peace be upon him, is in the general category of actions, not in their specific types. Therefore, it is preferable for a person to follow the customs of their own country, as long as they do not contradict Islamic law. This is because the Prophet, peace be upon him, only ate and wore what was common in his country, just as the Companions ate and wore what was common in the cities they conquered. Thus, emulation is in the general meaning of the action, not in its specific details, such as cupping, anointing with oil, and eating staple foods. What is best varies with different times and places.
