What is the ruling on one who utters words that violate modesty, especially from those who outwardly claim Islam?

We have previously mentioned the rules for a woman working in an environment where she is forced to interact with men, including limiting conversation to necessity and avoiding softening her speech. As for the man, he must lower his gaze and guard his tongue against forbidden speech such as backbiting, mockery, and lying, because unleashing the tongue is a great danger that leads to destruction. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, a servant may utter a word, without giving it much thought, by which he will fall into the Hellfire further than the distance between the East." He also said: "Whoever guarantees me what is between his jaws and what is between his legs, I will guarantee him Paradise." Unleashing the tongue to speak ill of people's honor, especially that of chaste Muslim women, is a grave sin. The danger increases if it comes from a committed person who is supposed to be a role model.
