"Advice is the foundation of religion, and it must be given with gentleness, kindness, and wisdom. Since Islam emphasizes cleanliness and purity, mosque attendees must maintain the cleanliness of the mosque and its facilities. It is permissible for the Imam or others to remind people of this, especially if there is a need, but without singling out a specific party or group to avoid embarrassment and public shaming. The Imam should have written a suitable note for the women if they were negligent in cleanliness, or spoken to one of them in an appropriate manner."
