The answer

It is advisable to seek Allah's help and supplicate to Him, and to increase in the remembrance of Allah, the recitation of the Quran, and righteous deeds that instill fear and awe. It should be remembered that Allah knows the treachery of the eyes and what the chests conceal, that death comes suddenly, that unleashing one's gaze has dire consequences, and that lowering the gaze yields great rewards. It is also recommended to avoid mixed-gender environments as much as possible, and to be keen on lowering the gaze and averting it upon a sudden glance. As for evil thoughts, one must repel the fleeting thought before it becomes an idea, and the idea before it becomes a desire, and the desire before it becomes a firm intention and resolve. If it becomes an action, it must be counteracted with its opposite so that it does not become a habit. One should constantly hold oneself accountable.
