Is it permissible for a suitor to give his fiancée gifts such as "flowers and the like, and flirtatious poetic writings"?

The suitor is a stranger to his fiancée, so it is not permissible for him to express amorous feelings towards her, shake her hand, be alone with her, enjoy her speech, or look at her. Nor is it permissible for her to speak to him in a soft and alluring manner. Communication between them should be limited to what is necessary, provided there is no risk of temptation (fitnah). As for gifts, there is no harm in presenting them through her family, without falling into the aforementioned impermissible acts. Jurists have mentioned the permissibility for the suitor to take back his gift if he was promised marriage but then she married someone else, which indicates the permissibility of giving gifts to the fiancée. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "If the gift was before the contract and they promised him marriage, but then she married someone else, he may take it back." The suitor must fear Allah and avoid laxity in dealing with his fiancée. Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan stated that a suitor speaking to his fiancée over the phone is permissible after she has accepted his proposal, provided the conversation is for mutual understanding, is limited to what is necessary, and does not involve temptation. It is preferable for this to be done through her guardian.
