Does the niqab pose a security problem because it could be used by thieves? And does a woman cover one eye or reveal both with the eyebrows? And why was the hijab mandated for women only? And why wasn't it also mandated for men to cover their bodies so that women wouldn't be tempted by them? And are kisses and handshakes that are free of pleasure forbidden, as is laughter between a man and his female friend? And is it permissible to joke with her before marriage?

In dialogue with non-Muslims, it is advisable to focus on the Oneness of Allah and to explain that the hijab protects women and safeguards society from indecencies. As for the niqab, it is permissible to show the eyes out of necessity. It has been reported from Ibn Abbas that the verse {they should draw over themselves some of their outer garments} means covering the face with the jilbab while showing one eye. Regarding a woman looking at men, it is permissible if it is free from lust, and it is prohibited if there is fear of temptation.
