Is what God has provided me with—in terms of marriage, and what it contains of "birth defects," "health problems," and "sexual discomfort"—considered provision due to a sin, or is it a trial from God? And how can I distinguish between the two? And how should I deal with my problem?

What Allah has given you in a wife of good character and religious devotion is a blessing that necessitates praise and gratitude. Any physical shortcomings she may have are covered by her religiousness and good character. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A woman is married for four things: for her wealth, for her lineage, for her beauty, and for her religious devotion. So, marry the one who is religiously devoted, and you will be successful." And he also said: "Let no believing man despise a believing woman. If he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another."

Contentment with what Allah has decreed is part of faith in divine decree and destiny. Allah tests His servants with both good and evil. Delving deeply into the reasons for affliction is not commendable in Islamic law, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "And when divine decree is mentioned, refrain [from discussing it]." We advise you to be content with Allah's decree and satisfied with what He has allotted for you, for this is among the most important causes of happiness in this world and the hereafter.
