How can the Kursi be the footstool of Allah, the Exalted and Most High, when it is like a ring in a desert compared to the 'Arsh?

Allah, glory be to Him, is above His Throne, and the Throne is greater than the Footstool. The Footstool is the place of the Merciful's two feet. These meanings are harmonious, and there is no problem with them. The problem arises from man's attempt to conceptualize them with his mind and imagine unknown forms, sizes, and manners. What is obligatory is to stop at what the texts have affirmed regarding Allah's attributes and actions, without imagining how. For the 'how' of the Throne, the Footstool, Allah's being above His Throne, and the 'how' of His two feet and their placement on the Footstool — all of that is unknown to us.
