Is it permissible to meet weekly to recite specific verses from the Qur’an for learning and mastery, followed by discussions on other matters, or is the gathering restricted to memorization only?

There is no harm in gathering to recite, memorize, study the Quran, and gain understanding in religion, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No group of people gathers in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy envelops them, angels surround them, and Allah mentions them among those with Him." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to review the Quran with Gabriel and study it with him during Ramadan, and he would recite the Quran to his companions and remind them of Allah. This indicates the legitimacy of gathering to listen to the Quran and study knowledge.
