What is the ruling on opening a barbershop for men where women work?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to open a barbershop for men where women work, as this constitutes cooperation in sin and transgression, and leads to corruptions such as: gazing between non-mahrams, touching, and privacy (khalwa), all of which are forbidden by Islamic law. The evidence for this is the words of Allah the Almighty: "Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their gaze and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do. And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their gaze." (Quran 24:30-31). And also the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "For one of you to be stabbed in the head with an iron needle is better for him than to touch a woman who is not lawful for him."

Whoever causes a sin or points to it bears its burden and the burden of those who commit it.

However, there is no objection to opening a barbershop for men where men work, or other types of permissible investments, provided that Islamic legal guidelines are adhered to.
