What is the ruling on wages earned from working in churches?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to work in places of polytheism and the worship of other than Allah, such as churches and shrines, because by doing so, he is affirming falsehood and aiding its adherents. This work is forbidden, and any money earned from it is unlawful. The one who engages in it must repent and give in charity what he has earned to absolve himself. It is not permissible for a Muslim to be an helper to the people of falsehood or an employee in places of idolatry, because that is considered aiding them in falsehood and condoning evil, and his earnings would be unlawful.
