Who was the first to name the surahs of the Holy Qur'an?

Scholars have differed as to whether the naming of the surahs of the Qur’an is by divine revelation (tawqifi) or not. The correct view is that it is tawqifi. The naming of the surahs has been mentioned in the noble hadiths, which indicates that the first to name the surahs was the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him.
