What should I do to strengthen my personality when facing hurtful words and repeated suspicions from relatives, and how do I deal with their constant criticism despite my attempts to guide them?
Steadfastness in faith and inviting others to it is the path of the prophets and the righteous, and any harm a Muslim encounters therein is natural. When witnessing an objectionable act from relatives, one must forbid it gently and kindly, without disparagement, using wisdom and good counsel. One should not supplicate against them or curse them, for a believer is not one who slanders, curses, or is obscene or vulgar. One should respond to ill-treatment with good deeds, for whoever connects with relatives who sever ties with them, and acts kindly towards those who mistreat them, it is as if they are feeding them hot ashes, and they will have a helper from Allah. Adherence to Allah and abundant acts of worship strengthen the person and increase their self-confidence. One must remain firm in faith and humble, not get preoccupied with responding to everything that is said, and praise Allah for the blessing of guidance. And a reminder of Luqman's advice to his son: to establish prayer, enjoin good, forbid evil, endure with patience whatever befalls him, and not to be arrogant.
