Is it not Allah Almighty who determines the sex of the child, regardless of the methods used for that purpose?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Allah alone knows what is in the wombs and creates what He wills, bestowing females and males, and making whom He wills barren. He has made a cause for everything. Allah Almighty is the Healer and has made medicine a means. He is the Giver of Death and has made accidents a means. He is the Provider and has ordained means for that. He is the One who sends down rain and has ordained means for it. He is the One who creates humans and has ordained marriage as a means. Likewise, He creates male and female and has ordained means for that. However, means alone are not sufficient; the will of Allah Almighty is necessary. There are ways to determine the sex of the fetus: some are superstitions and charlatanism, some are forbidden, and some are purely commercial. Only what is permissible, such as diet systems or timing of intercourse, is allowed. One must submit to Allah's decree and destiny and be content with what Allah bestows. There is no harm in desiring a male or female child. The Islamic Fiqh Council has ruled on the permissibility of choosing the sex of the fetus through permissible natural methods. No medical intervention is allowed except out of therapeutic necessity for genetic diseases, under specific Sharia conditions and controls, and with the necessity of supervisory bodies for hospitals and medical centers that perform such procedures.
