The answer

The traveler's dispensation to break the fast begins when he leaves the last inhabited houses of his village. This is the fatwa given due to the strength of its evidence. It is permissible for one who intended to fast and then traveled during the day, after leaving the houses of his village, to break his fast. However, it is preferable for him to complete his fast if it does not cause him hardship, in order to avoid the disagreement of those who do not permit breaking the fast, which is the opinion of most scholars.
