Is the relationship between a loving, devoted, sacrificing wife and her husband merely a piece of paper? And is the wife something despicable compared to the domineering mother?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
Filial piety towards the mother is immense, but it is not permissible to wrong the wife or deny her rights under the pretext of honoring the mother. It is incumbent upon the husband to combine honoring and being good to his mother with treating his wife kindly and fulfilling her rights. He should be wise, giving everyone their due right. Among the good manners of a wife are her kindness to her husband's family, overlooking their mistakes, and helping him to honor his parents.
