Are prayers to be offered in Medina combined and shortened, or in full, and is it obligatory to perform ghusl again in Medina or at the Miqat after performing it in Kuwait, and is it permissible to intend 'Umrah on behalf of a deceased mother at the time of Ihrām, then Hajj on one's own behalf on the Day of Tarwiyah for a female pilgrim performing Tamattu'?

A traveler remains a traveler and does not cease to be described as such if he stays for a day and a night in a city. He is permitted to combine and shorten prayers as long as he does not intend to stay for four days or more. Ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) before ihram (definition) is sunnah (definition) (recommended) and not obligatory. It is recommended to perform ghusl when entering ihram from the miqat (definition) and upon entering Makkah if it is convenient. It is permissible for a Mutamatti' (one performing Hajj Tamattu') to perform Umrah (definition) on behalf of someone else and then perform Hajj for himself, and this does not invalidate his status as a Mutamatti', provided that he has first performed Umrah for himself.
