What is the interpretation of the verse: "And from those who said, 'Indeed, we are Christians,' We took their covenant, but they forgot a portion of what they were reminded of. So We stirred up enmity and hatred among them until the Day of Resurrection"? And what is the reason for not seeing hatred and war among Christians if that is the meaning of "So We stirred up enmity and hatred among them until the Day of Resurrection"?

The meaning of the verse is that Allah took a solemn covenant from those who claimed to be followers of Jesus, that they should follow and support their Messenger. However, they altered their religion and abandoned a portion of what they were reminded of. Consequently, Allah cast animosity and hatred among them until the Day of Resurrection. Allah will inform them of what they used to do on the Day of Judgment and will punish them for it. This discord was a worldly punishment for their breach of the covenant.
