What is the ruling on women entering mosques with children for Tarawih prayers?

Women are not to be prevented from bringing their children to mosques during Ramadan (definition). It has been reported in the Sunnah (definition) that women used to bring their children during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, as in the hadith (definition) about the crying child, for whom the Prophet would shorten the prayer, and the hadith about the Prophet carrying Umamah during an obligatory prayer. Care must be taken to protect the mosque from impurity.
