What is the ruling on delaying Zakat for two months due to ignorance, then paying it later along with the Zakat for the following year?

Delaying Zakat (definition) beyond its due time is forbidden unless there is a valid excuse. Whoever does so must repent, seek forgiveness, and hasten to pay it. Paying an additional two months of Zakat is commendable but not obligatory, as the hawl (Zakat year) has not changed to Ramadan (definition). When the hawl becomes due again, Zakat must be paid and not delayed until Ramadan.
