Is it permissible to marry a young man whom a girl met online and who proposed to her, given that her father has agreed to consult you?

First, opening the door to communication with a foreign young man, and accepting his friend request, is an error that is not permissible in Islamic law unless there is an absolute necessity and strict controls, and both parties must repent to Allah and close this door. As for marriage, Islamic law permits a man to marry a woman for her beauty, lineage, or wealth, but it emphasizes the importance of religion. Although Islamic law permits a woman to marry a man of a different nationality or country, it stipulates the presence of a guardian, as he is best able to assess what is in her best interest. Regarding the case presented, the short period of acquaintance is insufficient, and emotional inclination may obscure proper judgment. Moreover, marriage involving different nationalities, environments, and customs entails significant risk and numerous difficulties related to family stability, such as the family being scattered between different countries and the difficulty of achieving material and social stability. Therefore, the Shariah and rational advice is to exercise caution and not embark on this unbalanced adventure, to sever this relationship, and to disconnect from social media for an appropriate period.
