Could you please clarify the ruling on giving Sadaqah for a fetus in its mother's womb?

Zakāh al-Fitr is not obligatory for the fetus according to the majority of scholars. Ibn al-Mundhir reported a consensus on this matter. However, the Hanbalis consider it commendable to pay it on behalf of the fetus. As for giving general charity for the fetus, there is nothing to prevent it. The actions of Uthman and other Companions indicate the permissibility of giving charity on its behalf.
