What is the ruling regarding female callers to Islam appearing immodestly dressed on satellite channels and participating with men in presenting religious programs? Is this considered a pretext for intermingling under the guise of advice and guidance? And what is the interpretation of the Hadith, "Do not prevent the female servants of Allah from the mosques, but their homes are better for them"?

What some women do by appearing immodestly on satellite TV screens and participating in programs with men involves several Sharia prohibitions, including: the forbidden display of adornment (tabarruj) mentioned in the verse: (And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance), and their mixing with men while immodestly adorned, which violates Allah's command to lower gazes and guard private parts. Furthermore, displaying adornment for photography is not permissible by anyone if it is for immodestly adorned women, and it contradicts what they advocate, which makes their sin greater, according to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and thrown into the Hellfire. His intestines will spill out, and he will go around with them as a donkey goes around a millstone. The inhabitants of Hell will gather around him and say, 'O so-and-so, what is wrong with you? Were you not enjoining good and forbidding evil?' He will say, 'Yes, I used to enjoin good but I did not do it myself, and I used to forbid evil but I committed it.'" This is a great error, and they must repent.
