How could the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say to the scribe, "Write as you wish," even though the revelation is from Allah?

The aforementioned hadith and similar ones are understood within their context, and are clarified by what is narrated in the Two Sahihs from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning a man from Banu Al-Najjar who used to write for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He then apostatized and joined the People of theah الكتاب, who elevated him and were impressed by him. However, Allah destroyed him, and the earth expelled him three times after his burial, so they left him abandoned.

This apostate slandered the Prophet (peace be upon him) to turn people away from him, claiming that the Prophet had approved him writing something other than what he had said. He thought that his writings would remain influential, but he did not realize that Allah preserves His Book, and that the revelation is preserved in the hearts of the believers. Allah exposed the lie of this apostate by having the earth expel him as a clear miracle.
