The answer

If what is described as a simple matter harms the parents, then it is grave in the sight of Allah, for it is an act of disobedience (ʿuqūq). Disobedience to parents is harming them in any way, whether minor or major, whether they forbade it or not, or disobeying them in what they command or forbid, provided that it does not involve an act of disobedience to Allah. Disobedience to parents is one of the major sins, and a severe warning has been issued concerning it, such as the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Three types of people Allah, the Exalted, will not look at on the Day of Resurrection: the one who disobeys his parents, the woman who imitates men, and the dayyūth (a man who approves of indecency for his female relatives). And three will not enter Paradise: the one who disobeys his parents, the one addicted to alcohol, and the one who reminds others of his favors."
