The Qur’an is a healing and a mercy for the believers, and it removes anxiety and sorrow. The effect of the Qur’an on a servant’s condition and its healing for heart ailments and worries is established by شرعي (Sharia-compliant) evidence and is proven through experience. However, this must be done in a lawful manner, without innovation or alteration. Invented methods for treating anxiety by reading a specific part of the Qur’an and interpreting it have no basis. Indeed, the entire Qur’an elevates one and brings benefit by the will of Allah, and specifying certain verses for the ruqyah (exorcism/healing recitation) of certain diseases without evidence is not permissible. The Qur’an was not revealed to be merely a medicine for people’s physical ailments; rather, it is a Warner to the worlds and a Guide to the Straight Path. Nevertheless, Allah benefits His believing servants through it, both from their religious and physical illnesses.
