Is it true that bleaching eyebrows with modern bleaching agents invalidates wudu' and prevents the completion of the ritual purification required for acts of worship?

A fatwa was previously issued permitting bleaching (tashqir) and stating that it is not among the prohibited plucking (namṣ), though it is preferable to avoid it. A number of contemporary scholars, including Sheikhs Ibn Baz and Ibn 'Uthaymeen, issued this fatwa.

When Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen was asked about bleaching, he replied that it is a coloring of the hair, not plucking, and that there is no harm in it. He also stated that the claim of him retracting his fatwa requires evidence.

Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen permitted bleaching one year before his passing, and this is confirmed in the book "Thamarāt al-Tadwīn" by his students.

Furthermore, the claim that Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen said "they deceived me" when retracting the fatwa is a fabrication against him, as his style for retracting a fatwa was different.

Permitting bleaching does not involve legalizing what Allah has forbidden. Moreover, the claim that bleaching material is water-repellent is inaccurate, as materials can differ, and some wash off with ablution.

A fatwa must adhere to Islamic legal principles, not rely on intimidation and alarmism.
