The answer

Islam has forbidden any love relationship between a man and a woman who are not married to each other, except within the framework of a legitimate Islamic marriage. Therefore, any money or gifts obtained due to this forbidden relationship are unlawful wealth, and it is not permissible to benefit from them, even if marriage occurs later.

This money must be disposed of by spending it on the poor, the needy, charitable causes, and general Muslim welfare, because it is compensation for a forbidden benefit. It should not be returned to the one who received the benefit, lest he combine both compensations or be rewarded for his disobedience. Nor is it permissible to keep it because it is forbidden wealth.

Shaykh al-Islam said: "Whoever sells wine does not own its price. If the buyer has taken the wine and drunk it, he should not combine for him both the compensation and the compensated. Rather, this money is taken and spent on Muslim welfare, just as it is said concerning the dowry of a harlot and the payment of a soothsayer, and similar things that are compensation for a defect or a forbidden benefit, if the disobedient person has received the compensation."

When spending it, consideration should be given to the needs of the recipient. The item itself should be given if benefiting from it is greater, or its value if benefiting from its value is greater. This is if the gifts were given in exchange for the forbidden relationship. However, if they were not for that reason, then they belong to the questioner, and she has the right to dispose of them.
