The Shafi'is and Hanbalis held that dog blood is impure, and (the affected area) must be washed seven times, one of them with earth or what serves its purpose, such as soap. If blood gets on a garment and its location is unknown, then the amount that ensures the removal of the impurity must be washed, or the entire garment if its location is completely unknown.
