What is the ruling on watching anime and reading manga that contain love stories between boys, knowing that they are cartoons and not real, and that I do not condone them in reality?

We have previously clarified the permissibility of watching animated films (anime) if they are free from Sharia-prohibited elements, such as promoting non-Muslim beliefs, ridiculing religion, advocating for something forbidden, or spreading lewdness and immorality. As for anime that includes love stories between boys and girls, it is apparent that they depict forbidden mixing between the sexes and illicit relationships, and therefore, it is not permissible to watch them.
