ما تعريف العلماء للمقدس وسبب قدسيته، وما هي مقدسات المسلمين ولماذا هي كذلك؟ وهل يمكن احترام مقدسات الأديان الأخرى؟ ولماذا يُحرم رسم النبي محمد وشخصيات أخرى، وهل يجب منع غير المسلم من رسمه حتى لو كان ذلك بدون إساءة؟

"Sacred" means purified. For Muslims, a thing becomes sacred through Allah's sanctification of it. Among the sacred things whose status Allah has elevated are: angels, prophets, mosques, and revealed books, because they are among the rituals (sha'a'ir) of Allah. A Muslim does not sanctify anything that Sharia has not sanctified; rather, he glorifies what Allah has glorified, such as Bait Al-Maqdis (Jerusalem), the Torah, the Gospel, and the Prophets. As for the reason for prohibiting drawing the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, it is due to the general prohibition of drawing living beings, and because it involves insult and harm to his noble person. A Muslim must strive to support the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and prevent his depiction.
