Has the proof been established against the wicked people at the end of time, and are they excused by their ignorance or not?

The condition of people at the end of time varies. Some are excused because the proof (hujjah) has not reached them, while others are not excused because the proof has been established against them.

Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "(Islam will fade away just as the patterns on a garment fade, until it will not be known what is fasting, or prayer, or ritual, or charity. And the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Exalted, will be taken away in one night, so no verse of it will remain on Earth. And there will remain groups of people, old men and women, who will say: 'We found our forefathers upon this word, "There is no god but Allah," so we say it.') Then Hudhayfah said in response to Silah: '(It will save them from the Fire.)'"

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that whoever grows up in times and places where prophetic knowledge has faded, and the message of the Messenger has not reached him, is not considered a disbeliever. The imams agreed that whoever grew up in a remote desert, far from scholars, and was new to Islam, and denied something from the manifest rulings, his disbelief is not declared until what the Messenger brought is made known to him.

Whoever has been reached by the proof and it has been established against him is not excused. As for one whom it has not reached, the correct view is that he will be tested on the Day of Resurrection. However, regarding worldly rulings, anyone who adheres to a religion other than Islam is a disbeliever. Ibn al-Qayyim held the view that Allah does not punish anyone except those against whom the proof has been established through the messengers. And that punishment is deserved due to turning away from the proof, or stubbornness against it after it has been established.

The establishment of the proof varies according to times, places, and individuals. The Sunnah indicates that the worst of creation, upon whom the Hour will come, will worship idols after the souls of the believers have been taken. These individuals are not excused, and the apparent reports indicate that they are blameworthy and accountable.
